Catch a lover butt5/18/2023 Karen Sisco is this century’s “ Miami Vice. Unlike all other female characters on TV, Sisco doesn’t break down and cry when she gets shot, when her heart gets broken or when she ends up wearing the same suit in several different episodes. Talk about a conflict of interest! Arrest him? Sleep with him? Sleep with him and then arrest him? (Hell, it’s Patrick Dempsey. Of course, it’s completely ridiculous that she’s back on the job two days later handing out subpoenas and warrants, but hey, she’s kick-ass, as I may have mentioned.Īnyway, while trying to piece this together, she begins dating a fisherman whom the FBI believes is a bank robber. Tonight, Karen tries to remember exactly what happened to her when she got shot a couple of days before. Now, how often do you see that in a TV heroine? In fact, one’s a bank robber and another’s a married fed. Like a really well written film noir, “Karen Sisco” is darkly lit to go along with the dark theme, with music that is so good, they should sell the sound track after every episode.Īlthough Sisco’s a kick-ass, she has real love affairs – and no they aren’t with mysterious CIA agents. In fact, when a man comes by to see Karen, he looks around the joint, and says: “Just move in?” What’s right here is that, yes, she does have a dingy apartment – a ploy usually left to the down-and-out male PI or disgruntled detective whose wife has thrown him out. We also meet her very cool dad (Robert Forster), a semi-retired, private investigator named Marshall (yes, the marshal’s father is Marshall), her boss, Amos Andrews (Bill Duke), as well as a roving cast of characters that includes a bunch of ex-cons who play poker with her at her dingy apartment every week. In tonight’s premiere, we meet Karen Sisco, a federal marshal working in Miami. The shock is that TV didn’t screw this one up. Karen Sisco, starring pillow-lipped Carla Gugino, is taken from the Steven Soderberg flick “Out of Sight” with Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney, which was based on characters created by the great Elmore Leonard. It’s bright, it’s dark, it’s stylized, it’s realistic – in short, I haven’t been this enthusiastic about a dramatic network show since “CSI” and haven’t been as happy with an ABC show since “Alias.” Continued abuse of our services will cause your IP address to be blocked indefinitely.LET me get this out of the way right now – “ Karen Sisco” is the best new network show of the season.
